The App modernisation services

A modernised iOS and Android app, built on a current cross-platform framework, with your existing branding and features preserved. We take on publication to the App Store and Google Play using your existing store accounts, so your ratings, reviews and download history stay with you. Plus a monthly subscription that keeps the app compliant, secure and performant.

Modernisation works through your existing business developer accounts on both stores. Apple's Apple Developer Program enforces one publisher account per organisation via D-U-N-S verification, and Google Play increasingly follows the same approach, so setting up additional or replacement identities for an established business is rarely possible. If you are launching a brand-new app and have no store identity yet, account setup is a separate engagement and typically falls under MVP App. We work with business developer accounts only, not individual ones.

An agency builds bespoke apps from scratch, typically over months, with variable cost. We migrate from your existing app to a modern framework using AI tooling, in two weeks, at a fixed price. Different problem, different process.

DIY builders are configurations in someone else's tool. We deliver a real, production-quality app whose source code you own, suitable for serious commercial use.

No. Multizone is a software development company with two fixed-price managed services for app modernisation, plus day-rate and retainer consultancy in our areas of expertise: mobile app creation, legal technology, Joomla content management, enterprise software, software-as-a-service product creation and deployment, and operating systems.

Timeline and process

Yes, for Advanced App, where the engagement is two weeks. Sophisticated App takes roughly three weeks, the additional week accommodating the deeper design and feature work. Both apply only to apps that pass the AI complexity audit; if your app is unusually complex or poorly documented, we tell you on day two and quote separately. We do not commit to a timeline we cannot hit.

You send us your App Store and Google Play links. We run an AI analysis of the public app surface and request access to your existing source. Inside 24 hours we return a scope assessment: preserve / rebuild / missing, plus a complexity score.

Day seven. You get a working build to install on your own device. Direction issues are caught at this point, not at final review.

Small adjustments are absorbed under either subscription. Larger changes (new features, new flows) are quoted separately. We will not surprise you with an invoice.

Technology

We use Flutter as our default. One codebase compiled directly to iOS and Android, designed for phones and able to run on tablets and on Mac computers with Apple Silicon. We do not support Flutter for web, Linux or Windows. We were at the Flutter launch event at the Science Museum in London in 2018 and have built and shipped Flutter apps continuously since, including platform apps with tens of thousands of end users. If you have a strong preference for a different stack we will discuss alternatives during the audit.

We have migrated from Objective-C, Swift, Java, and Appcelerator Titanium/Alloy codebases. The AI complexity audit confirms feasibility before we commit.

Yes. The codebase is yours from day one. The subscription has a minimum term, but the source code is unaffected by that. If you exit, the code remains with you and we hand over signing certificates and repository access at no extra charge.

In a Git repository you own (we can host it for you, or push to your own GitHub / GitLab / Bitbucket organisation). Build pipelines and signing certificates can be transferred or held by us under the subscription.

Our pipeline reads your existing codebase, identifies known patterns, and generates a modernised equivalent on the target framework. Our engineers review every screen, fill in bespoke logic, and integrate anything the AI cannot translate cleanly. We are not asking the AI to invent your app. We are using it to accelerate the mechanical translation.

Compliance and security

We have a 100% historic approval record. If a review goes to a second round, we handle the correspondence under the modernisation fee. If a future store policy change affects your app, the Maintain or Enhance subscription covers proactive updates. That is precisely what those subscriptions are for.

We update sign-up flows, consent handling and data storage to current standards. Full GDPR compliance also depends on your privacy policy, processor agreements and operational practices. We will flag any gaps we see in the audit.

Every modernisation includes a dependency CVE scan, a review of authentication and storage patterns, and remediation of findings before delivery. Independent penetration testing is out of scope but we are happy to coordinate with your chosen tester.

Yes. Multizone Limited is a UK company; delivery is from the UK. We are ICO-registered.

Cost and commercials

Advanced App is from £4,995 one-off plus £495 / month for the Maintain subscription. Sophisticated App is from £7,995 one-off plus £995 / month for Enhance. Final figures are fixed at the audit. The pricing page sets out the factors that may influence them.

Twelve months. After that, monthly rolling at the current rate.

Yes. Subscription discounts apply when paid annually in advance: 10% at 12 months; 12% at 24 months plus one month free; 15% at 36 months. Thirty-six month commitments also waive the modernisation fee entirely, subject to the waived fee becoming payable if you cancel during the term. Monthly billing is available at any term length at the current rate.

You keep the source code and the app, and we hand over signing certificates and any infrastructure under your control. We will not hold your app hostage. If you exit before your minimum term ends, the remaining months of the current subscription year are payable in one final invoice, with a discount adjustment if necessary. For 36-month customers whose modernisation fee was waived at signing, the waived fee also becomes payable on early termination. Standard managed-service practice; nothing exotic.

Small adjustments are absorbed under either subscription. Sophisticated App's Enhance subscription includes a monthly engineering allowance for slightly larger work. Substantial new features are scoped and quoted for separately from the subscription. As a rule of thumb, anything that would take more than a day's development effort falls into that category.

Common objections

Most of our clients do. Maintenance and modernisation are different problems. Your developer can keep doing bespoke feature work after we deliver.

That is the most common reason people come to us. The agency model is not built for modernisation; ours is.

That is fair. Apps need measurable success criteria from the outset (adoption, user retention, interactions, or other specific analytics), and they need to be designed around those criteria. The stores are littered with vanity-project apps; we would rather help you avoid being one of those. The audit answers the question for free; if the numbers do not stack up, we tell you. We would rather give an honest answer than sell something that does not make sense.

Apps decay if you ignore them, and the cost of catching up later is almost always higher than the cost of staying current. Most clients find the subscription costs less than what they were already spending on reactive fixes. If thirty-six months is the right horizon, the modernisation fee is waived; the only thing payable is the monthly subscription.
